Choosing a good printer for use with your home computer needn’t be a chore. There are some great options around which don’t cost the earth.

Points to Bear in Mind When Choosing a Home Computer

Deciding to buy a printer for use at home is something most people eventually do. However, there are some good points to bear in mind. Firstly, you’ll probably want to buy a printer which isn’t too big and doesn’t take up lots of desktop space. A home computer doesn’t need one of the big stand-alone printers, but at the same time you want it to cope with your needs. There are several excellent compact models on the market and Lexmark printers have a good range. Keeping your home printer affordable is another point. While it may be nice to have the very latest model which has hundreds of functions, you probably won’t need them and the extra cost won’t pay for itself. Ask yourself what you’d like your home printer to do. Do you want it to scan, photocopy and send faxes? Or do you just want it to print? Lexmark printers have a wide selection of printers which are perfect for home use, and which will fit any requirements.

Choosing the Right Printer For You

When you’ve decided what exactly you want from your printer, it’s time to look around and see what your options are. Choosing whether or not you’d like a wireless printer is another factor to take into account before you finally buy your machine. There are many great wireless options available such as some of the latest Lexmark printers designed for home use, and they don’t cost much more than traditional plug in machines. Ease of use is also worth thinking about. Choosing a complicated machine is fine, if you’re comfortable using it. Otherwise, stick to what you know you’ll be happy with and find a simple to use alternative.

Decide on a printer which is the right size, does what you’d like it to and is easy to use, yet not too expensive, and you’ll have found the perfect machine for you.

The term ‘United States’ gives an image of a formidable entity, a veritable ‘Super World Power’ But recent studies have shown that persistently decreasing levels of employment in the US has afflicting the American economy for several years now. There are various reasons that have led to this situation and continue to plague the US economy.

Population and its changing interface

The population of a country and its growth has a direct relation to its economic growth. The growth of population in the US is constantly increasing and leading to the ratio of unemployed to increase since jobs are not increasing at the same rate. Current statistics reveal that though the rate of employment in the US rose in the recent years, it has been attributed to a decrease in the number of people looking for a job. More and more Americans have been dropping out of the labor force-claiming disability, seeking higher education or simply retiring and sitting at home. These are not regarded as unemployed. Similarly Women work force is decreasing, due to the high cost of ‘child care’ in the US, which on an average is more than 10 percent of a middle class family’s income.

Structural Changes and its consequences

In the US, the emphasis is on “Multi-tasking”. This coupled with increasing automation and Outsourcing are some of the reasons for the increasing unemployment here. Since the labor cost and wages is lower in other countries, most of the US firms continue to have operational bases located in the developing countries, thereby causing unemployment on its shores. Also there is a perceptible shift from a ‘tail structure’ of functioning to a ‘flatter’ less hierarchical structure that is seen to be more productive and fosters growth; but on the other hand drastically reduces Man power and generating unemployment in the US.
Thus unless a conscious effort is made to remove all aforementioned impediments there is little hope to reduce unemployment in the US and assume that the proverbial American dream will be fulfilled by its own people.

Apart from the opportunity to live within another culture, the individual concerned can benefit in so many different ways that relate not only to their professional standing and development, but also to their personal and social growth.

Language skills

Nowadays, having command of a second language is more important than ever before. Assuming you are going to a country that speaks a different language, you will have a great opportunity to learn and practise that language in real-life situations. Whatever your previous experiences with language learning, you will find that this is by far the best method. You can take lessons that are conducted by native speakers and then go straight out and practise with the natives. This will give you a huge boost in confidence and a new skill that you will be able to exploit to the full in the future.

Future prospects

The very fact that you have chosen to work abroad shows that you are a highly motivated and mature individual, with the confidence to back your decisions and take calculated risks. That, coupled with the experience and new skills you will learn, singles you out as a good future employee. Furthermore, it will help to push your CV to the top of the pile when applying for jobs and impress interviewers. You will also be laying down and developing the kind of personality and character traits that sit well with someone who wants to start their own business.

Social skills

Wherever you go, you are going to have to get on with the people you meet, which means cultivating social skills to meet your new situation. This will occur naturally, both at work and in your leisure moments, and see you making friends as you develop a deeper understanding of the local culture. Accommodation can be a problem at first, but once you have settled in to your new country, you will be made aware of many flat share opportunities by friends and acquaintances, which you can seize on to gain yet another new experience.

It is getting more and more difficult in modern times to secure any kind of employment. In the current economy budgets are tighter, workforces are smaller. This automatically means that in order to get a job, the potential candidate must stand out from the rest in some way or another. There could easily be dozens of people going for the same position, with the same qualifications or experience so beyond doing a great interview, maximising and adapting the content of your CV is a great place to start.

Work Experience

While you may have already outlined all of your work experience to date, think about how this work experience is related to the job you hope to get. There is no point in listing the duties of totally unrelated previous positions if they do not add to the position you are after. Instead, focus on what is relevant in the jobs you had in the past and expand upon this, while removing anything that is irrelevant. Adapt the details for each specific job and/or company to highlight and experience, duties or tasks you have fulfilled which will get the attention of the interviewer. Elaborate on anything where you had authority, were part of a team, had responsibility or had to deal with difficult situations.

Other Information

It’s a great idea to put an objective on your CV. This is a chance for potential employers to read about your aims and goals in a concise and clear way. If you have travelled, or have any other accomplishments outside of work such as awards, being part of a team, voluntary work or any personal hobbies, then mention this in order to build a picture of an individual who is well-rounded and unique. Last but not least, ensure that your CV is absolutely perfect and professional looking without any grammatical, information or aesthetic errors.

In today’s poor economy and competitive market, securing employment is arguably harder than it ever has been before. Candidates that are highly experienced and seeking work are everywhere while positions that are actually open and available are few and far between. This is why it is so crucial to make yourself stand out from the crowd in any and as many ways as possible.

Inexperienced Candidates

Many people who are experienced will have to really emphasise this experience on their CV, during the interview and showcase their strengths in a strong and immediately apparent way. Those that are relatively inexperienced are relying on their qualifications and other abilities to get them noticed. This is exactly why a college degree is a crucial aspect of seeking employment. Lack of experience or relevant work experience is a problem when looking for a job, as so many highly experienced individuals may be after the exact same position. Having no formal education, particularly a college degree is in this case, a fundamental drawback and a potential problem for prospective employers. Having a degree, though inexperienced, means that a candidate has a high level of education, experience of completing projects and assignment, a solid knowledge base in a specialised subject and experience working amidst a group and also independently.

Experienced Candidates

Even those who have a wealth of experience behind them will benefit from a college degree. This is basically the full package and would be difficult for an employer to say no to, given the interview goes well. Particularly for technical and scientific professions, a degree means that you are aware of changes in the area and are more than likely updated and aware of various aspects of the relevant subject. Compared to an individual offering experience alone, this is a highly desirable set of skills and knowledge and will help you to stand out as the best fit for the job.

In this time of current economic uncertainty, issues such as unemployment very much come to the forefront of political discussion, especially around election time where both democrats and republicans have their eyes firmly on the White House. In the US, is seen as a very strong indicator of the health of the US economy and greatly influences the value of the US dollar against the other major global currencies.

Obama’s Views

The presidential candidates for both parties have adopted clear views on how to reduce the levels of unemployment and this piece aims to outline the main ideas of each candidate.Obama defends his record over the past 4 years by stating that his administration is responsible for saving the US motor industry, creating over 4 million private sector jobs and presiding over 2 years of job growth. He also believes more needs to be done and proposed in his blueprint for the economy to favour domestic production through the tax system and discourage outsourcing of jobs, to invest in development of partnerships between business and educational institute to help fill gaps in the skills market and to invest in green energy. He believes that government has an active role to play in reducing the levels of unemployment in the US, a point on which he and Romney appear to differ.

Romney’s Views

Romney is firmly of the belief that Obama has implemented policies that strengthens the position of trade union too much, to the extent that businesses have suffered and fewer jobs have been created as a result. He wishes to create more of a balance between the rights of the unions and of businesses to enable those businesses to create jobs without what he sees as burdensome over-regulation. This he believes will help Americans get back to work and reduce the rate of unemployment. Romney’s focus is allowing businesses to provide the growth, whereas Obama wishes to do it through public spending.
Hopefully this brief insight into the candidate’s respective views and has given you some basic ideas of their main differences and priorities for the country.

A job interview is regarded by many as one of the most unpleasant things that they have to go through in life. While most of us experience some nerves, albeit to varying degrees, before the interview starts, they usually go after a few minutes as we relax into the task in hand. However, some people never relax and lose their cool both physically and mentally, placing themselves at a grave disadvantage.

Remaining physically cool

If you want to remain cool, you mustn’t get overheated in the first place. The best way to do this is to dress in clothes of a suitable weight for the temperature. In other words, don’t wear a heavy woollen suit in the summer, no matter how smart it looks. Most modern offices have some form of air-conditioning, so you can be fairly certain that a lightweight suit will suffice, no matter what season it is. If it is cold outside, then wear a suitable lightweight overcoat or mac and remove it once inside the building. The next thing is to arrive at the interview early. If you arrive early, you can be still and calm, whereas if you arrive late or just in time, you’ll be all of a lather and probably hot and sweaty, a state which will last well into the interview.

Remaining mentally cool

Continuing on from the last piece of advice, if you are physically hot and bothered when the interview commences, you will find that that penetrates into your state of mind, causing you to give a poor account of yourself, whereas if you are physically relaxed and cool, you’ll find it much easier to marshal your thoughts and make a good impression. The other way to remain mentally cool is to do your homework, which means preparing thoroughly for the interview. Anticipate the questions you are likely to be asked about both your professional and personal lives, and prepare suitable answers. Also, find out everything you possibly can about the organisation that you are applying to join so you can ask some intelligent questions and sound interested and keen.
